Overview
CalculatorChef uses analytics tools to understand how our calculators are used and to improve the service. This policy explains what each tool collects, whether it uses cookies, and how you can control your data.
1. CalculatorChef First-Party Analytics
Our built-in analytics system collects privacy-safe, aggregated metrics. It uses localStorage (not cookies) and requires your consent.
- Page views (calculator ID, category, template — no URLs)
- Computation events (success/failure, bucketed duration)
- Interaction types (input change, reset, copy — no values)
- Share and export actions (format only)
- Scroll depth and navigation depth (bucketed)
- Offline usage status
This system does not collect input values, results, personal information, or referrer URLs.
2. Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor demographics, traffic sources, and engagement patterns. GA4 sets analytics cookies on your device when you consent.
Cookies set by Google Analytics:
- Analytics cookies — Used to distinguish visitors and maintain session state (expire after 2 years)
GA4 only activates after you accept analytics via the consent banner. If you decline or later revoke consent, GA4 is disabled and its cookies are removed from your device.
GA4 does not collect personally identifiable information such as names or email addresses. We do not use GA4 for advertising or remarketing. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
3. Cookie-Free Site Analytics
We also use a privacy-first analytics service that measures page performance and traffic without cookies. By design:
- No cookies are set
- No individual users are tracked or fingerprinted
- No cross-site tracking
- Data is fully aggregated and anonymized
It collects only aggregate metrics: page views, visit counts, referrer URLs, browser and operating system, country of origin, and page performance metrics. Since this service does not use cookies or collect personal data, it runs without requiring your consent.

Cookies & Storage
The following table lists all cookies and local storage used by CalculatorChef:

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics cookies | Cookie | Google Analytics | Visitor and session identification | Up to 2 years | After you accept analytics |

How We Use Data
Analytics data is used solely to improve calculator accuracy, performance, and user experience. First-party analytics data is aggregated and anonymized before storage. Google Analytics data is processed by Google under their data processing terms.
Data Retention
- First-party analytics: Raw events are retained for a maximum of 24 hours; only aggregate statistics are kept afterward.
- Google Analytics: Data is retained according to Google Analytics data retention settings (default 14 months).
- Cookie-free analytics: Data is retained and aggregated by the provider.
International Data Transfers
Google Analytics data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States, under Google's data processing terms and applicable transfer mechanisms. Our analytics providers may process data across their global networks. CalculatorChef first-party analytics data is not transferred to any third party.
Your Choices
Here are a few things you can do:
- You can decline analytics cookies via the consent banner on your first visit
- You can change your mind anytime using the toggle in the site footer — this turns off analytics and removes analytics cookies
- You can clear analytics cookies through your browser settings
- If you’d like to know more about what we collect, just reach out
- If you’d like us to delete any data tied to your session, let us know
Since our first-party analytics collect no personal identifiers, most data cannot be linked to an individual. Google provides its own data management tools at myactivity.google.com. For any privacy inquiries, contact us at [email protected].
Third-Party Services
CalculatorChef partners with trusted infrastructure providers to deliver the site. These providers may collect standard web server logs (such as IP address and timestamp) as part of normal operations.

We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
